One of the Best Freeware i have.
After having Problems with Norton (it wasen't able to kill a Virus) i had better experinces with PC-Cillin - unlikely no freeware so i had to find a good alternative after the free period.
Having the Choice between AVG and avast! i prefered avast!, it more useful in a small network than AVG is.

Have been using avast! freeware version(Home Edition) for several years now - after trying and abandoning Norton/Symantec, MacAfee, and pc-cillin. Avast protects the system without totally taking it over - incremental updates are very compact & fast - even on a dialup line (I have no hi-speed from June thru Sept - living in the country!)

avast! is: - easy to install, easy to control settings, updates fast and frequent, leaves you still in charge of your machine - and easy to uninstall if you don't like it.

Highly recommended - try it!
